The challenge
We were determined to avoid ‘country cliches’ as well as faddish kitchen trends. The aim was to design timeless flexibility and, most importantly, a space that really prompted us to cook.
We wanted easy, open access to ingredients and equipment and most of all, a cooker that was capable of being the focus and very much the ‘engine’ of our entire cooking space.
We also sought the immediacy and instant control of a gas hob combined and the constant all-over heat that an electric oven provides. And any cooker had to be big enough to handle multi-course Sunday lunches for 6 adults or more.
