Style: Modern country, hand-built shaker, freestanding, solid wood.

Colour scheme: Sky blue with accents of red, vintage pine and charcoal handles and slate worktops. The customer used Farrow & Ball’s Parma Grey on the base units and white on the shiplap style panelling.

The 6-Series collection cooker is 60cm wide by 60cm tall and boasts 11 different cooking functions including Easy Steam. It is teamed with a modern stainless-steel hood at 90cm wide which quietly and efficiently extracts steam and odours.

The challenge
I really wanted the look of a range cooker but didn’t think it was possible given the lack of space in the kitchen which also needed to serve as a dining area.

I’d always thought of 60cm wide cookers as a bit drab, low grade and boring and so I was so pleased when I found this one from De’Longhi. It’s solid, chunky and stylish and is one of the features friends compliment me on when they see my new kitchen for the first time. The matching hood adds to the impact.

I also assumed wrongly that having only one oven and grill would mean a lack of functionality but it’s incredible what’s included and so there’s no need to compromise on what I cook. It even has a leavening setting which is great as I love to bake bread.
